Slipstream Music has appointed Alex Mearns senior director, U.K. partnerships, and Jack London director, enterprise sales, as the music licensing company expands across Europe and North America.
Mearns joins from Universal Production Music, where he spent seven years leading partnership strategy and client activations for organisations including FIFA, Amazon Studios, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Banijay, the Premier League and the BBC. At Slipstream, he will work with brands, agencies and content teams across the U.K. and Europe.
London joins the U.S. business after working at Artlist, where he was among the first hires in the company's New York office. His role will focus on direct relationships with brands and companies licensing music for digital and social content.
The hires follow Slipstream's acquisition of Megatrax and are part of a broader reshaping of its senior team. Joanna Gregory has also been promoted to vice president, strategy & operations at Cavendish and will report to JD Adams, global managing director of Slipstream Music.
Founded in 2021 by Dan Demole and Jesse Korwin, Slipstream has grown through a mix of organic expansion and acquisitions. Its catalogue now includes more than one million human-made production music tracks.
The business focuses on production music licensing for customers in television, film, advertising, gaming and digital media. Its platform is designed to help clients clear music across formats, platforms and territories while reducing the risk of copyright claims and takedowns.
The appointments point to a push to deepen commercial coverage in two key markets. Mearns' role covers partnerships with broadcasters, brands, agencies and creators across the U.K. and Europe, while London's U.S. position is aimed at enterprise customers buying music licences for digital content output.
Demole said the hires come as the company integrates acquired assets and expands its market reach.
"Slipstream has expanded rapidly over the past two years, both organically and through strategic acquisitions, and we're only really getting started," said Dan Demole, chief executive officer of Slipstream Music.
"Growth through acquisitions only holds if you bring in the right people to run with it. Alex and Jack are both proven, experienced operators in the markets we're operating in. I'm very pleased they're joining us, and securing hires of their calibre is the clearest signal of where this company is headed," Demole said.
Mearns said the opportunity to help build the company's presence in the region drew him to the role. At Universal Production Music, he worked on partnerships with major broadcasters, streamers and sports organisations, giving him experience across the client categories Slipstream is targeting in Europe.
"Slipstream has built something genuinely different for the production music industry. Bringing together more than one million human-made tracks with a modern licensing platform is a real opportunity for broadcasters, brands, agencies and creators across the U.K. and Europe, and I'm looking forward to introducing more people to what the platform can offer," said Alex Mearns, senior director, U.K. partnerships at Slipstream Music.
London also said his experience at a growing music technology company prepared him for the new role. At Artlist, he worked with enterprise brands, agencies and media companies on music licensing and related creative work in the U.S. market.
"After helping scale a fast-growing music technology company and working with some of the world's leading creative organizations, joining Slipstream felt like a natural next step. I'm looking forward to helping creators and brands tell meaningful stories through the power of music," London said.
Slipstream operates in a crowded production music market, where media companies, brands and creators are seeking simpler rights clearance across multiple distribution channels. The recent hires suggest the company is investing in senior commercial staff as it looks to turn its expanded catalogue and acquisition-led growth into a broader international customer base.
