NTT Data expands AI ops platform for Daimler Truck

NTT DATA has expanded deployment of its AI-powered infrastructure operations platform, including support for Daimler Truck.

The platform is used to manage complex global enterprise environments across IT and cloud infrastructure, SAP Basis and network operations. It combines real-time monitoring, predictive analytics and automation in a single operating layer designed to give companies a broader view of distributed systems.

For Daimler Truck, the work covers global manufacturing environments where system uptime and rapid incident response are closely tied to production continuity. The deployment is intended to provide real-time visibility into those environments and identify potential issues before they interrupt operations.

NTT DATA described the project as an example of AI being applied to day-to-day infrastructure management rather than limited to customer-facing applications or pilot projects. The focus is on operational oversight, early warning signals and automation of routine support tasks.

The platform monitors tens of thousands of devices in real time across local and global environments. It also unifies multiple service areas, giving operators a single view of infrastructure health, performance and resource use.

That monitoring is paired with predictive analysis aimed at spotting patterns that may signal service degradation or equipment failure. Those insights can be used to prevent disruptions before they affect production lines or office systems.

Another part of the deployment is automated incident handling. The platform supports multi-stage incident processing intended to reduce manual intervention, shorten resolution times and limit downtime.

The delivery model combines on-site teams with offshore execution under AI-led orchestration. This approach is intended to coordinate work across geographies while maintaining support for local facilities and users.

Manufacturing focus

The Daimler Truck engagement points to growing use of AI in industrial IT environments, where manufacturers are under pressure to keep plants running while managing a patchwork of older systems, cloud services and networked equipment. In such settings, even short outages can disrupt production schedules, logistics and supplier coordination.

By placing infrastructure operations at the centre of the deployment, NTT DATA is targeting a less visible but essential part of corporate technology estates. Manufacturing groups often rely on interconnected systems spanning factory equipment, enterprise software, communications links and regional data environments.

NTT DATA said the platform also supports coordinated hardware upgrades and lifecycle management. This helps maintain reliable connectivity for end users and production sites, which can be critical when manufacturing operations depend on stable access to applications and data.

NTT DATA did not disclose the financial terms of the Daimler Truck work or specify how many sites are covered, though it described the deployment as global in scope.

NTT DATA is part of the wider NTT Group and says it serves 75% of the Fortune Global 100. The business and technology services company operates in more than 70 countries and works across consulting, infrastructure, applications, security and data services.

Artificial intelligence has become a larger part of NTT DATA's messaging as service providers seek to show practical uses for AI in corporate operations. Infrastructure management has emerged as one area of focus because large organisations already generate extensive operational data that can be analysed for patterns, failures and inefficiencies.

Supporters of that approach argue that AI can improve response times and reduce repetitive support work, particularly in environments with thousands of connected assets. Critics, however, warn that companies still need clear oversight, data quality controls and human judgement when automated systems are used to manage essential operations.
