Secure Code Warrior launches Citizen AI training programme

Secure Code Warrior has launched Citizen AI, an AI literacy training programme for non-developer employees intended to support responsible AI adoption across business functions.

The launch reflects a broader effort by companies to address AI use beyond software teams, as staff in marketing, finance, human resources and operations increasingly rely on AI tools in their daily work.

Many corporate AI governance programmes still focus on policies, platforms and technical controls, leaving a gap in how employees use AI in practice. As a result, staff can still expose sensitive information, approve excessive permissions or rely on inaccurate outputs while using AI systems in their roles.

Citizen AI targets those users rather than developers. The programme uses practical lessons, videos and interactive exercises focused on everyday tools, workflows and automations.

Built around common workplace scenarios, the training covers how employees already use AI to automate tasks, share information and act on machine-generated outputs. It explains how AI automations work, how to write prompts and check responses, and how to manage access, credentials and sensitive data when using AI-powered services.

Another focus is the management of AI artefacts and automations, including risks linked to third-party tools, hidden dependencies, and the sharing of AI projects or conversations. The launch curriculum also addresses what Secure Code Warrior describes as "vibe-coding" risks in websites and applications created with limited technical oversight.

The product launch comes against a backdrop of a gap between AI deployment and workforce readiness. Secure Code Warrior cited research from Kyndryl showing that 57% of organisations have embedded AI in core business processes or deployed it broadly across the business, while 23% believe their workforces are ready for AI.

That mismatch is becoming a growing concern for security and governance teams as generative AI tools spread well beyond IT departments. In many organisations, employees now use AI systems directly to draft content, review documents, automate workflows and retrieve information, often without formal training in the risks tied to those activities.

Workforce focus

The new curriculum includes tailored learning tracks and is expected to expand with additional courses and modules. At launch, the emphasis remains on practical AI literacy for employees who may not write code but increasingly make decisions, process data and build automations with AI tools.

For employers, that puts AI skills and AI risk management in the same conversation. Rather than treating AI as a specialist technology issue, training providers and governance teams are starting to frame it as a workforce issue that affects routine business processes across the organisation.
