Leaseweb acquires ITQ VMware customer base in Dutch deal

Leaseweb has acquired ITQ's Broadcom VMware white-label VCSP customer base, transferring 51 VCSP customers to Leaseweb's VMware Cloud Foundation platform.

The transfer covers about 35,000 cores, taking Leaseweb's total under management to 65,000. According to the companies, that makes it the largest VMware Pinnacle Partner in the Netherlands.

The deal builds on an earlier relationship between the two Dutch-founded technology groups, under which ITQ selected Leaseweb as its infrastructure partner for VMware Cloud Foundation services for its VCSP partners across Europe.

Those customers had been operating under the Broadcom VMware Advantage Partner programme. Following the transaction, they will continue marketing their services under Leaseweb's Broadcom VMware VCSP Pinnacle Partner status.

Leaseweb's direct commercial relationship with Broadcom gives those partners an authorised route to continue their VMware businesses. Under the broader partnership, ITQ will continue to provide VMware advisory and implementation support to the transferred partners.

Partner shift

The move comes as VMware partners across Europe adjust to Broadcom's revised channel structure. Leaseweb and ITQ are also engaging with global Broadcom VMware VCSP partners whose agreements are not being renewed, offering them a route on to Leaseweb's infrastructure.

Under the partnership, Leaseweb will provide VMware VCF 9.x infrastructure, while ITQ will serve as a knowledge partner on migration and deployment. Leaseweb will manage the platform relationship with Broadcom, while ITQ focuses on advisory and professional services.

Leaseweb has expanded its position in the VMware services market in recent weeks. Last week, it became a VMware VCSP Pinnacle Partner, the top tier of the provider programme.

The latest transaction gives that status immediate commercial weight by adding an established customer base from ITQ. It also strengthens Leaseweb's position in the Dutch market, where both companies have longstanding operations.

European footprint

Founded in the Netherlands, Leaseweb now operates in 10 countries. Its infrastructure spans 28 data centres globally, and it sells cloud, dedicated server, colocation, content delivery and managed services.

ITQ, also founded in the Netherlands, operates across Europe, with offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark and Norway. The company specialises in hybrid cloud, cloud-native and digital workspace technologies, with VMware advisory work forming a core part of its business.

The customer transfer suggests a division of roles between the two companies rather than a full exit by ITQ from VMware-related work. ITQ is retaining its advisory role while moving the white-label VCSP customer base to Leaseweb's infrastructure and partner framework.

That structure could appeal to smaller service providers seeking continuity in VMware support while relying on a larger authorised partner for commercial access to Broadcom. The acquired customers can continue marketing their proposition, but under Leaseweb's Pinnacle status rather than the previous programme structure.
