10ZiG & LG expand cloud device options across Europe

10ZiG and LG Business Solutions Europe have partnered to offer LG cloud devices running 10ZiG RepurpOS to customers across Europe, broadening the hardware options available through 10ZiG in the region.

The agreement covers selected LG All-in-One cloud devices and cloud-ready laptops, which will ship with 10ZiG's RepurpOS pre-installed. The devices are aimed at organisations using virtual desktop infrastructure, desktop as a service, software as a service and browser-based workspaces.

For 10ZiG, the partnership adds another hardware line to its existing range of thin and zero client products. Customers in Europe will be able to choose between LG devices, 10ZiG's own purpose-built endpoint hardware and compatible existing hardware that can run RepurpOS.

RepurpOS is a Linux-based endpoint operating system for centrally managed cloud and virtual desktop environments. Using the same software environment across different hardware types is intended to help IT teams standardise management while choosing devices that suit different user groups and deployment needs.

European focus

The move also reflects 10ZiG's wider push in Europe. It has recently expanded multi-language support across its endpoint software portfolio, and the LG agreement adds another route to meet regional demand for a broader mix of endpoint hardware.

LG has an established presence in sectors including healthcare, education, corporate workplaces, retail and the public sector. Its devices already have a foothold in European organisations through product lines such as monitors, laptops, commercial displays and medical systems.

That sector presence may be one reason the deal could resonate in specialist settings. One healthcare-focused product now added to the 10ZiG portfolio is LG's medical All-in-One device with an integrated RFID reader.

10ZiG says organisations are increasingly looking for more flexibility in endpoint hardware without adding management overhead. The combined offer is built around that demand, with devices managed through 10ZiG Manager, available either as a Windows Server deployment or as a Linux virtual appliance.

The software supports digital workspace platforms including Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, Citrix, Amazon WorkSpaces, Omnissa and Parallels. That means the LG hardware can be used in environments where companies are already committed to one of several hosted desktop or application delivery platforms.

Management model

The strategy behind the partnership is less about introducing a new software platform than expanding the range of hardware formats that can sit under a common operating and management layer. In practice, that gives IT departments the option to deploy desktop units, integrated All-in-One systems, laptops and repurposed existing devices while using the same endpoint software.

For businesses managing large estates of user devices, software standardisation can be as important as the hardware itself. Thin client and cloud endpoint suppliers have increasingly sought to differentiate themselves by supporting multiple device types while promising lower administrative effort than a general-purpose desktop operating system.

Tom Dodds, Global Strategic Alliances Manager at 10ZiG Technology, set out the company's view of customer demand in Europe.

"Adding LG Cloud Devices to our portfolio gives customers access to a trusted hardware brand and additional All-in-One and mobile options, all powered by the same 10ZiG software they can use across their endpoint environment. It expands what we can offer customers while preserving the simplicity, security and centralized management that are fundamental to the 10ZiG approach," he added.

LG says the partnership allows it to broaden the uses for its cloud device range in organisations shifting towards hosted desktops and cloud-first workspace models.

"By pairing LG hardware with 10ZiG RepurpOS and centralized management, we are giving European customers additional options for building secure, manageable endpoint environments around the needs of their users. Healthcare customers especially benefit from this collaboration, as the renowned LG Medical All-in-One with an integrated RFID reader is now officially added to the 10ZiG portfolio," Schmidt added.

The devices will be sold across Europe through authorised partners, adding another channel for organisations seeking alternatives to conventional desktop and laptop setups in managed virtual workspace environments.
